Blended Teas

We all love a cup of English Breakfast in the morning – so why don't we insist on quality also? Here’s a selection which will really put the quality back onto your morning breakfast tray…

English Breakfast "Highgrown Leaf" Blend £1.69 per 100g
A blend with some of the best aromatic teas from the Nuwara-Eliya District of Ceylon.
Our most popular breakfast tea and best-seller generally, we're all hooked on this one – less of the cattle-prod strength, more of an encouraging push in the right direction: a more pleasant way to get up in the morning!

Early Breakfast Blend £1.89 per 100g
A strong and reliable English Breakfast-style broken blend: if you're catching the early train, this is a great way to ensure you're awake enough to find the right platform.

Irish Breakfast Blend £1.99 per 100g
A strong tea with a high proportion of tips. Solid and delicious this is delicious with milk and sugar.

Five o'clock tea £1.99 per 100g
Our builder's tea - good strong stuff. Great with milk and sugar, and blended to an old English recipe, this is a sweet, fortifying and restorative brew with low tannicity.

Cabbies' Blend £1.99 per 100g
A strong, malty, blend. The typical afternoon tea.
Selected by our cab-driving customers, and named in honour of taxi-drivers everywhere! If you like a hearty brew, then this is for you: solid and trusty, just like a licensed hackney carriage.

East Frisian Sunday Blend £2.99 per 100g
A delicious Assam tea with vanilla pieces.
Picture this: it’s Sunday, a day off; you don't want the hearty caffeine kick of a breakfast tea; you fancy some luscious Vanilla since it’s the weekend. How convenient then that the East Frisians have got the perfect solution – a lighter Assam blend with Vanilla.
Now ask yourself this: why reserve it for Sundays?

Murray Blend £2.09 per 100g
The Murray family of North Somerset have been blending their own tea for use at home for four generations or so. Once tried, never forgotten it seems because we immediately asked if we could try recreating it to tell the world! And here it is, a slightly smoky bergamot feast!

Cambridge Summer Blend £2.09 per 100g
A superb light blend for tea lovers.
A delightful, leafy tasting blend of top teas from around the world, but notably from Darjeeling, blended to give a light and aromatic flavour perfect for summer drinking.

Masala Chai Spiced Blends

The Indian combination of strong black tea and blends of spices is a wonderful way to drink tea. We have a number of Masala Chai style blends all of which are proving particularly popular.

Classic Masala Chai £1.99 per 100g
Chai has been made popular recently by high street coffee stores offering it as a latte but often this starts out life as a freeze-dried powder (er, yum?). Well, our Masala Chai is a sweet blend of real tea and real spices, delicious taken black or with sugar, honey, milk, cream, you name it... it's very moreish. Great value as well when you consider how much some chai tea bags can cost!

Pepper-Chai £2.49 per 100g
Hot and spicy for the curry lover. This is one of our own blends, especially developed for keeping people warm in a long queue on a cold morning outside our shop. The resulting brew was so popular we were asked to keep in on the list. So we did.

Chai Anis £2.29 per 100g
A blend of spices including Anis and strong full leaf tea commissioned as a special production for us. The resulting brew is slightly lighter than our other masala chai blends because of the superior leaf grade, with the added joys of the aniseed flavours. A perfect balance of mid-strength tea and spice.

Caffeine-Free Organic Old Indian Spice Mix £2.89 per 100g
Cinnamon pieces, cardamom seed, ginger pieces, cloves and black pepper.
Caffeine free as there's no tea, it's great brewed on its own as a spicy caffeine free boost, but for the authentic effect try putting a cup of milk into a saucepan with one to two teaspoons of Spice Mix and some honey/sugar to taste (you could also add a teaspoonful or two of strong tea). Bring to the boil, stirring to avoid the milk burning. Simmer for about 5 minutes, & you'll have a heady, sweet, spicy concoction: gorgeous.
