Organic Range
Organic has become something of a buzz-word lately. We tried a number of organic and non-organic teas, and these Organic ones really stood out: maybe that’s because there aren’t any nasty additives, or maybe they’re just great teas. Either way, buying Organic is a good way to feel better about yourself – after all, “you are what you eat”!

Organic Black Teas
Organic 2nd Flush Darjeeling FTGFOP1 AMBOOTIA
£3.69 per 100g
Fairly tea-ish, yet still absolutely classic in its Darjeeling flavour - ideal for those wanting a tea which is both rounded and aromatic. Excellent taken without milk, yet also pleasant with a drop or two, if that is your preference.
Organic Assam TGBOP SEWPUR
£2.69 per 100g
A decidedly solid broken-leaf Assam tea, with an excellent balance of flavour, malty & somewhat treacle-ish in nature, but having a rounded and pleasantly tannic aftertaste.
And of course, it's Organic too, which is great!
The Nilgiris are known amongst other things for their fairly strong, wiry teas, produced at economical prices, and this is no exception: great value. Organically produced and from a trusted estate, this is an honest and forthright tea, balanced with lightness from its full-leaf grade.
Organic Oolong Teas
Oolong tea is semi-fermented, that is to say some way between Green (unfermented) and Black (fermented) tea. There are greener ones with a buttery flavour, and blacker ones with more earthy tones and middly ones with all sorts of intriuing flavours in between. Oolongs have a generally light strength, but can have all the complexity of a black tea and we are currently searching for ways legally to import the best oolongs from Taiwan and China, since we don't get many of them in Europe at the moment.
Organic China Oolong £2.78 per 100g
What our suppliers say: Typical oolong, earthy and a very mild taste with low tannic contents.
What we say: If you haven’t tried an oolong before then you really ought to give this a go – we're sure it will surprise you. Try this dark oolong without milk, and let the wonderful earthy sensation take you over. It’s like being hugged by mother-earth herself, or something…
If you are a smoker, this might be a good one for you, as the real opinons panel likened the taste to a sweet tobacco - just like grand-pa’s pipe. Equally if not just enjoy it because it’s fabulous!
Organic Green Teas
Organic China Green CHUN MEE £1.89 per 100g
An organic tea with a slightly dry, but aromatic taste; intriguing and light, slightly smoky but above all really very enjoyable and unexpectedly good with shortbread [well, any excuse for shortbread!]
Organic China Green GUNPOWDER £1.69 per 100g
The Chinese invented gunpowder and are the top producers of Green tea, so (with dubious logic) it’s no surprise that this deliciously healthy green tea, with a pleasantly light tannic aftertaste, is a corker. And it represents great value too for a bio-organically produced tea. Perhaps try it with some crystalline stem ginger, another winning Chinese invention!
Organic China SENCHA £1.99 per 100g
Fresh and with few tannins if brewed light, this tea has a delightfully refreshing and healthy flavour - somehow you know it's doing you some good when you drink it. Perhaps try it with a little piece of Vanilla fudge?
Oh go on, live a little!
Organic Rooibos and Organic Spices
Our Organic Rooibos has a lovely rounded flavour and a russet-orange colour. Rooibos is the perfect tea substitute for those who want caffeine-free but don't want artificial decaffeination processes - Rooibos naturally contains no caffeine.
Cinnamon pieces, cardamom seed, ginger pieces, cloves and black pepper.
Forget all those plastic-cup versions of Indian spiced teas that you can get at railway stations and try a spoonful of this added to a strong black tea - you won't go back!
It's great brewed on its own too as a spicy caffeine free boost, but for the authentic effect try putting a cup of milk into a saucepan with one to two teaspoons of Old Indian Spice Mix. Simmer for a few minutes, stirring to avoid the milk burning and you'll have a heady, peppery, huggable yet invigorating concoction of spiced milk: gorgeous. Add honey to sweeten.
